What is a Paleo diet?
A paleo diet is a dietary plan based on foods similar to what might have been eaten during the Paleolithic era, which dates from approximately 2.5 million to 10,000 years ago.
A paleo diet typically includes lean meats, fish, low glycemic fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds — foods that in the past could be obtained by hunting and gathering. A paleo diet limits foods that became common when farming emerged about 10,000 years ago. These foods include dairy products, legumes and grains.
Purpose
The aim of a paleo diet is to return to a way of eating that's more like what early humans ate. The diet's reasoning is that the human body is genetically mismatched to the modern diet that emerged with farming practices. Farming changed what people ate and established dairy, grains and legumes as additional staples in the human diet. This relatively late and rapid change in diet, outpaced the body's ability to adapt. This mismatch is believed to be a contributing factor to the prevalence of obesity, diabetes and heart disease today.

Low Glycemic Fruits
Vegetables
Nuts and seeds
Lean meats, especially grass-fed animals or wild game
Fish, especially those rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as salmon, mackerel and albacore tuna
Oils from fruits and nuts, such as olive oil or walnut oil
What to avoid
Grains, such as wheat, oats and barley
Legumes, such as beans, lentils, peanuts and peas
Refined sugar
Salt

What is the Mediterranean diet?
The Mediterranean diet is a way of eating based on the traditional cuisine of countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea. While there is no single definition of the Mediterranean diet, it is typically high in vegetables, fruits, whole grains, beans, nut and seeds, and olive oil.
The main components of Mediterranean diet include:
Daily consumption of vegetables, fruits, whole grains and healthy fats Weekly intake of fish, poultry, beans and eggs Moderate portions of dairy products Limited intake of red meat
Plant based, not meat based
The foundation of the Mediterranean diet is vegetables, fruits, herbs, nuts, beans and whole grains. Meals are built around these plant-based foods. Moderate amounts of dairy, poultry and eggs are also central to the Mediterranean Diet, as is seafood. In contrast, red meat is eaten only occasionally.
Healthy fats
Healthy fats are a mainstay of the Mediterranean diet. They're eaten instead of less healthy fats, such as saturated and trans fats, which contribute to heart disease.
Olive oil is the primary source of added fat in the Mediterranean diet. Olive oil provides monounsaturated fat, which has been found to lower total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein (LDL or "bad") cholesterol levels. Nuts and seeds also contain monounsaturated fat.
Fish are also important in the Mediterranean diet. Fatty fish — such as mackerel, herring, sardines, albacore tuna, salmon and lake trout — are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, a type of polyunsaturated fat that may reduce inflammation in the body. Omega-3 fatty acids also help decrease triglycerides, reduce blood clotting, and decrease the risk of stroke and heart failure.

Vegan diets are made up of only plant-based foods. This type of diet includes fruits, vegetables, soy, legumes, nuts and nut butters, plant-based dairy alternatives, sprouted or fermented plant foods and whole grains. Vegan diets don’t include animal foods like eggs, dairy, meat, poultry or seafood. They also are devoid of animal byproducts such as honey (made by bees) and lesser-known animal-based ingredients like whey, casein, lactose, egg white albumen, gelatin, carmine, shellac, animal-derived vitamin D3 and fish-derived omega-3 fatty acids.

Rebalance and detoxify your liver. A wonderful way to rebalance your liver and your body! Use as a stand-alone program or as a kick start into one of our weight loss programs!
Program Highlights
During the next 2 to 3 weeks, we will show you how to detox and rebalance your liver in a safe and effective way. With a step-by-step guide and personal nutritional coaching, you will learn how to support your liver and protect it from external stressors and/or toxins. We want you to feel empowered to make the dietary and lifestyle changes necessary to realize your optimal health.Your health and well-being depend on your liver’s ability to effectively erase toxins from the body. As one of the hardest working organs, the liver benefits from an occasional reset. Over the next weeks, we will help you reduce the liver’s workload and promote overall health.
Why Support the Liver?
The liver is the body’s primary filtration system. It metabolizes nutrients and medications, produces the bile needed to digest fat, detoxes the blood, breaks down hormones and helps the body use carbohydrates for energy. These days, our bodies are constantly bombarded with stressors that overburden the liver that can make us feel sick and contribute to chronic illness and weight gain. The good news is that with simple dietary and lifestyle shifts, you can support the liver and improve your overall health.
Some Signs that you may need to support your liver:
Inability to lose weight
Excessive fatigue
Brain fog
Constant sugar cravings
Gas and bloating
Poor sleep

‘I found lifesaving support at Marin Weight Loss & Wellness. Today, after calling MWLW I have lost 50 pounds, dropped 4 pant sizes and have a healthy relationship with food. I stand instead of sit at work, I keep moving, walking with new energy.
I learned how to sit with my feelings instead of eating mindlessly. I now practice quiet intent, allowing myself to let go of old habits and behaviors.
I am now present and aware of my body, how to nourish not just my hunger but my emotional well being’.
